Open full generator from within inline password menu

Inline-autofill predictively generates a password if there is no vault entry for the website, like this:

The icon to the right causes a new password to be generated. However, this is of minimal use because the password is of the same length and complexity as the previous one. Perhaps this icon should instead open the full password generator, just as it does when creating/editing a vault entry:

This would allow full customization, including generating a passphrase.

… and most important: including an easy “in-place” change between passwords and passphrases. (currently, in theory this is also already possible via the general generator settings of the extension – but additionally, there’s still a bug with that, which is described here)

Hi Den,

Thanks for taking the time to work through my post t extract the essence.

You pretty much nailed it, whereas most people thought that it was a complaint about an inadequate password generator that is the fly-out from the browser.

I like the addition of a passphrase.

@Bandit Never mind, but when I asked you this in your feature request 7 days ago…

@Bandit So, you’d like to pop up such a generator box when you click on a password field on a site (probably best right below that field?), correct?

… I exactly meant the same thing as @DenBesten now realized with this feature request here.

That would be @Nail1684 . I just try to do my best.

Does this feature request satisfy what you wanted?

A post was merged into an existing topic: In lastpass, when creating a new account, if the number of characters was limited, or special characters were not allowed, I could change the suggested password AT THE NEW PASSWORD FIELD

FWIW, this is my feature request. Your feature request retains its original title.

Moved your comment to your FR, as it appears to be furthering that discussion, not this one. Please advise if you object and it can be moved back.

Hi Dan,

I just thought of another reason for why the way Bitwarden handles the situation described above should be altered.

Following the bitwarden process for changing the password that it offers for a new account on a Web site that does not accept the default password (number of characters whatever), you have to change the default password format in Bitwarden to get it to offer one that will work on that Web site.

Once you have created the new account using a password that is not your choice for number of characters, or whatever, you then have to go into Bitwarden to change the default password again so the next time you need to create an account Bitwarden will offer a password that is formatted the way you want it to be.

Another log on the fire, I hope.
