I use the Notes feature and love it. It would be great if it didn’t pop up a separate window when I need to edit it. When the window pops up, it is so small, and editing it is cumbersome.
Also, please allow formatting like bold, bullets, etc.
@Javiso Welcome to the forum!
Do you speak of the item type “(Secure) Notes” – or the notes section in the “login item” type?
Is that your experience with all of the BW apps? Or of which of the BW apps do you speak here? (mobile app, browser extension, desktop app…?!?)
Secure note. It’s below Identity but above SSH key. I didn’t know there was another place for a note besides this.
There already is an existing feature request for formatting options for Notes:
Then, there is an existing feature request for being able to expand the Notes window/dialog (if it doesn’t match your request, feel free to open a new separate feature request, but only about that single thing then):
I’m going to close your feature request now (with some delay) because of those existing ones.
I’m confused by “didn’t”. Are you describing some behavior specific to mobile apps, perhaps? Because in all other apps, the Notes field is edited directly in the Edit Item view, not in a separate pop-up window.
It’s with any application chrome extension, web browser direct login on mobile app. It pops up a window when I try to enter a note and the window was so small. I just wanna do it right in the browser without a separate window frame popping up.
If we are talking about the browser extensions (be it Chrome or another browser), we are talking about this window:
?
(If you didn’t know that you can make the extension window more wide: in the browser extension, go to Settings → Appearance → Extension width → “Wide” or “Extra wide”)
Did you know, you can “pop out” the extension window? Just click this arrow symbol:
(only be aware, that the popped out extension window doesn’t follow automatic locking/logout settings)
The “popped out” window has the advantage, that it can be enlarged. The notes section itself can also be enlarged (not only in the popped out extension window!), so combined, it could look like this for your Notes:
Maybe there is a language barrier, but there is definitely no special window that “pops up” when you need to edit a note.
To edit a note in the Chrome browser extension, first open the note item, which shows the View Note screen:
Then click the Edit button, which shows the Edit Note screen:
Next, place your cursor in the Notes box, and start typing (or making changes):
Finally, click the Save button, which returns you to the View Note screen:
Nowhere in the above procedure does the browser extension UI “pop up a separate window”, as you have claimed — all actions and edits are performed directly in the original browser extension window.
If you see something different when you edit notes, please post screenshot to show the “separate” window that your browser extension (or other Bitwarden app) “pops up”.
