Not allowed to vote as new user?

Hi everybody, just registered to place some votes at feature requests that I really feel are important. However I am not allowed to vote at all.

Searching existing topics, I only found discussion of the 20-votes limit per account. So for my information as well as other new users who may stumble upon this, I’m opening this topic to clarify things.

Also, because there’s no appropriate forum for this, I had to mess a bit with category and tagging. Sorry :slight_smile: Feel free to move if you feel there’s an appropriate place for this.

So, are new users allowed to vote immediately?

@jbjhjm Welcome to the forum!

No, the Discourse platform uses a “trust level” system, in which your privileges on the platform (the ability to post URLs, screenshots, etc., as well as your ability to vote) are limited until you’ve reached a certain level of trust. This is necessary to reduce spam and vandalism.

On your profile page, you can see that your current trust level is “new user”. To improve your trust level, keep participating in the forum (returning to the forum on a regular basis, reading posts, commenting when you have something relevant to say, etc.).

Alright, thanks @grb!
