Logging into new Android tablet for the first time

Our family have been longtime customers of Bitwarden premium, but it’s a long time since I needed any help in this forum.

I just installed the Play Store version of Bitwarden 2026.3.0 (21345) on an Android 14 tablet. It will not recognize my valid Email address and/or master password.

“An error has occurred. Username or password is incorrect. Try again. Okay”

I sent a support ticket, but Cetonia, sent a coookie-cutter lost password screed without properly reading my support request.

I have no problem logging into our mobile phones and desktops, so there is no issue with the credentials. Even still, I did a “get a master password hint” thinking it would detect it is a new device and send me a verification code, even though my password is correct. It did not even send the hint to me, nor was it quarantined on my mail server, which I control.
Have you introduced some security measure where I need to registeri the new device, so it can log in?
Please tell me how to log into Bitwarden app on Android 14 tablet.

@TechniSmart Welcome back!

Hm. As a long-time-user, I would guess your BW account is on the (original) US/.com cloud – and the apps default to it… If you ever moved the region to the BW EU/.eu cloud, or are not sure at the moment, then first try to switch to the EU server region.

The tablet is on wifi, I guess? VPN? – If you can, try to change the network and try it with/without VPN.

You’re sure you literally mean “log in” here? (and not just “unlocking” – just in case: Understand Log In vs. Unlock | Bitwarden)

If you want to look yourself for other possibilities: [Guide] "I can't login" - Some tips for login problems/issues

PS;

Well, if you never set up 2FA for your BW account, then the answer is: Yes. But that should only come into play, after you successfully entered your username and master password, so that can’t be your (current) issue.

Another addition:

  1. The BW clients/apps that you use (and where it works) are up-to-date?
  2. Can you log in to the web vault (https://vault.bitwarden.com / https://vault.bitwarden.eu)?

I recall it was always with .com even though I am located in Guadeloupe, which is in the Caribbean but technically my fiber optic connection traces to Orange mainland France. That has never been an issue before, and I have other PCs and mobiles connected here on wireless. I don’t even know how to check whether the region is connected to US or EU server.

When I say log in, I should saying unlock with master password.

Yes I am able to log into vault.bitwarden.com

2FA is enabled because each time I unlocak Bitwarden it emails a verfication code which I enter. The problem here is when I try to unlock Bitwarden on the tablet, it does not send an email

Yes, the tablet is on wifi.

Yes, the apps are all up to date.

So, a bigger question: why don’t I get a verfication code to my email?

I have Bitwarden as a Flatpak on Debian, on Windows 11, on my wife’s android 14 phone as well as my Android 15 mobile. They all work perfectly.As well, I use the BW Chrome extension on Debian and my wife uses BW on her Windows 11 PC through both the Chrome extension and the app.

I will take a look at the guide, but I don’t know what else to tell you, except I enabled Flight Recoder, so how do I access that log file and what do I do with it?

Thanks for you efforts.

Could you try to delete the app data of the BW app on the Android tablet and try it again?

Where is the best location to download BW from for the Android tablet?

It’s the Android play store; search for “Bitwarden password manager,” or

The slightly more general link for the mobile apps is: Download the Bitwarden Password Manager App for iPhone, Android, Chrome, Safari, and More | Bitwarden

In the Flight Recorder, there should be a link to “share” with BW support. Otherwise I think you could also download the files and e.g. when BW support answers you per email, you could attach the Flight Recorder files to your response email.
