from with in the username/text entry field.

When typing a username into the username field with the inline autofill window open, it should filter the options based on the entered text like 1Password and other password managers

Would love to be able to turn on search for inline auto-fill drop-down.

Would love to see search in side Bitwarden inline autofill, just like in Dashlane.

If you click on the extension icon, there is a search there.

I would suggest, though, that autofill misbehaving is not something to be taken lightly. The reason being that auto-fill does not match if it is a look-alike website (e.g. n3tflix.com) trying to steal your credentials. This is one of those cases where I want the work-flow to be disrupted enough that it sparks my curiosity/suspicion.

Don’t know about such cases, but then at least add autofill quick-link after searching the vault. At the moment when I user extensions search field it switches to Vault and then there’s no quick link for autofill - i must open the item and only then I can autofill.

Guys, what do you think about adding inline autofill search/filter? Similar to 1password, where user is just able to start typing email address and that filters available options in inline autofill? In this case I would get all emails that match query “elite”

Hello,

I looked through existing requests – some similar, but not similar enough I think.
Coming from 1Password, looking for a feature that allows me to search within Autofill suggestions based on the Label or “Name” of the Vault Item.

For example, I imagine it like this:

  1. I navigate to abc.com
  2. I have 3 separate accounts for abc.com. One labelled “Blue”, one labelled “Red”, and labelled “Green”
  3. If I start typing “Bl” into the form field, now only “Blue” is suggested autofill as “Bl” was a partial match on the “Blue” vault item. Would be similar if I typed “Re” for Red or even “e” would match all 3 results.

This is a very condensed example, but imagine a site where you have 10+ logins. Some credentials may have slightly different labels. 1Password lets me start typing directly into the username field of the website, the label of the item I’m looking for, and that is shown at the top of the list for suggestion. It does this for password field autosuggestion too, even though the characters you type in are visually masked

Presently, in Bitwarden, I need to scroll and scan with my eyes to find the item I’m looking for. Can be annoying for sites with a lot of accounts. No separate icon or button needed to “invoke” the search, just start typing

I’m new to Bitwarden and comming from Lastpass. I’m in love with Bitwarden, but I really miss this feature

It would be super handy to have Bitwarden suggest usernames as we type, just like browsers do. This would save a lot of time and reduce the chances of typos.

Thanks for considering this! Keep up the awesome work.

@jaborgs Welcome to the forum!

I moved your comment into this Feature Request thread, because it did not seem relevant to the topic where you had originally posted.

A post was split to a new topic: Problems autofilling on financial aggregator site

I’ve requested this feature for 2-3 years already. This feature exists in other password managers like 1password ir apple passwords.

Greetings to all and excuse me for my English is not my native tongue.
Recently I faced a problem trying to use multiple (many!) logins to a site that does not allow access directly to the login page, so I can not access it searching the vault and using the “Launch Website”. On the other hand, on the “Tab” section there is no way to search the Logins so it makes it difficult to find one and then autofill…
Is there a possibility to search the “Tab” section?

P.

Would propose to create the popup menu so there would be possible to right click on login window and have search option also there. For example lastpass has there such feature. Sometimes login window is floating and disappears when to open the toolbar button of Bitwarden to search. So even you can search, you cannot autofill as the window disappears when you click on toolbar. Therefore (and not only) it would be helpful if there could be searched in place where right click (context) menu can be opened. Search is especially helpful if there are lots of accounts at one address.
Certainly also autofill would be helpful once the result has been searched. This autofill after search seems to be long-awaited feature - now also in popup menu.

I get where you’re going.

Web extensions: If you click on the top-left arrow icon, Bitwarden opens in new mini window.
This way you can do search there and copy/paste details manually (which, of course, is not that practical and secure).

But “solution” regardless of that

I request that there is a search function in the autofill popups, like in almost all other password managers. There’s a similar feature request from 2018, but it is closed. Does that mean that Bitwarden will never have such a simple search function? I’m talking about Bitwarden Premium (coming from LastPass Premium).

@BUser Hi!

Could you please share the link to the feature request you think is similar? (I can re-open it)

In general: there are several autofill methods with Bitwarden (Autofill Logins in Browser Extensions | Bitwarden) and it would help to know which one you mean. (though, take your time to get to know everything with Bitwarden  )

Using a search I found these two:

@BUser I have merged several related threads, including yours, into this one.

The Autofill after search Feature Request is unrelated, as that request is about the lack of a “Fill” button (or equivalent — e.g., clicking on the item name to autofill) for search results that are not in the “Autofill Suggestions” section of the Vault view (previously, this was the “Tab” view).
