Thanks! That is the inline autofill menu - and that wasn’t around in the year 2018 for Bitwarden… anyway, @grb was quicker and already did the right thing here. :wink:

From a different Password Manager with a nice search function.

Proton pass now has this feature and I really want it to be added to bitwarden

No password search by typing option in the user name area itself scrolling for the password in the user name area makes difficult for multiple passwords with single website site

@rajagopalan181,

I moved your request to the password manager section and merged it into a similar topic that already has some votes. Please feel free to vote for this topic.

Incidentally, Passwordless.dev is a separate product that implements authentication on web servers, so it really did not belong there in the first place.

Zoho vault password manager as this feature

Will this ever be done? Even Firefox natively filters suggestions as you start typing a username. I have dozens of client logins for some sites and Bitwarden is basically unusable for me on those sites without this feature.

Sidenote: I made the title a bit more clear.
(before, it was: “Inline autofill menu: type to filter”)

Welcome, @RipSurge to the community!

If you click on the extension icon next to the URL bar, instead of the one in the password field, it has a search that likely does much of what you want. Even if not perfect, it may raise the bar from “unusable” to “inconvenient”.

Thank you, that actually does make my life a lot easier! It would still be a lot better if the autofill suggestions could be filtered (or sorted) by username (or part thereof) already typed in the username field.. I would have imagined this to be default/expected behavior, and I didn’t think to test this before I spent the time setting up Bitwarden and importing everything.

Who types usernames (smirk)? Auto-fill works on them too. For typical sites, I just use Ctl-Shift-L in the username field and it also fills the password. Or, for those with many entries I do it the way shown in the picture and click the “fill” button to get both.

You do raise an interesting idea though. The pictures others have posted all have a dedicated search field that would take away from the number of visible items. But, there is already a text box right above that. If inline-autofill filtered based on the contents of the username box, it could achieve the goal with no need for to take up space with a dedicated search field. Thanks for (perhaps inadvertently) sharing that thought.
