I see Collections (Sammlungen) beside my Vaults, Items … In the thread about #tags an “idea” came up to use Collections, so I tested it. But it has nothing to do with common #tags. So I still see this “Sammlungen”. How do I get rid of it? Or, how do I leave or remove “my” Organisation (which is is the reason why I see this “Collection”).
I am still dreaming of using common #tags in Bitwarden …
You can remove/delete an organization (which deletes all data in the organization and it’s collections) when you log in to the web vault and enter the Admin Console (–> Settings → Organization info → “Danger zone” → Delete organization)
Did you create your organization with a different BW account then?
The Admin Console is only available for a BW account that created an organization. (i.e. you’d have to enter the web vault with that BW account that created / “owns” the organization)
You remember the “discussion” about the #tags and the “idea” came up to use “Collections”. I tested it and after a few minutes decided to not using it. But I do not remember what exactly I did/not did.
But … It can be the case that Collections appeared with the newest version of Bitwarden (2026.1.0). I think Collections was not visible when using the version 2025.x. (but not 100% sure).
iOS (also newest version) does not show Collections.
And, I have sent in a support request to the Bitwarden Support.
Okay, then it seems you already must have deleted the organization (otherwise you would be able to enter the Admin Console).
But I also just created a fresh new Bitwarden account and resetted my desktop app. I think, the answer to “How can I remove Collections from the left panel?” is: you can’t (at least at this point in time). It’s also shown to a fresh new BW account, which never created any organization.
… another instance of “I wish I would remember that, too”…
Your “Alle Tresore” section does not show any organization vaults, so this is either a bug, or some kind of caching issue. Try doing a clean reinstall (after deleting your data folder). [just saw the most recent comment from @Nail1684, which indicates this is a bug.]
… I really think it is a kind of a bug (though, a few minutes ago, I thought it may be the new normal… but it doesn’t make much sense to show “Collections”, when the user doesn’t have one and is not even part of an organization)…
There also is another bug, I just found out…
Try to collapse everything in the sidebar menu.
Then expand “Vault”.
Then expand in “Vault”: “All Vaults”, “All items”, “Folders”
Now click on “My Vault”.
See that “Collections” vanishes.
(probably not the only way to trigger that… and hopefully only possible when you don’t… ehm… no, it’s also possible when you are part of an organization and do have collections ) EDIT: Actually, it is much simpler: As soon as you click “My vault”, the “Collections” entry will vanish.
@clausimausi So it seems, there is a way to get rid of the “Collections” entry.
(Well, probably not relevant for you @clausimausi as you don’t want to see “Collections” at all… but I added that GitHub issue here so that it can also be “tracked” here.)
EDIT: This issue was closed. For now, Bitwarden considers it to be the expected behaviour, that “Collections” vanish as soon as you click “My vault”.
I wonder why this was not found during testing, also the right-click “thing” from the other post. Hoping that there are not “similar" big under the hood …
