My phone was away for repair and was wiped. I set up an old phone to use meantime, and when I transferred Bitwarden on to my repaired phone it would not work. I tried to put in a code from my authenticator, but that didn’t work. I then tried the recovery code, but that didn’t work either.
I can still use Bitwarden on my laptop and my old phone. Is there any way to transfer this working version on to my new phone, please?
First of all: Take a look at the titel. What does this topic have to do with “Bitdefender” ?
Next: What do you mean with “transfer” ? All the data in your Bitwarden account is stored on the servers of Bitwarden. So remove the “transferred” version from your phone, then install Bitwarden from the app store your phone has access to and finally start the app and log in using the credentials you hopefully still know.
Thanks for that Peter. I have two factor authentication set up, and it doesn’t work from the authenticator app on my old phone, so I can’t log in that way. Also, I tried to use a recovery code and that doesn’t seem to work either. Do I need to include the spaces in it?
Make sure to have the correct time and time zone on both phones. Then again use the authenticator app.
The recovery code - if it is the one from Bitwarden - is to deactivate 2FA. For details see here:
Finally a recommendation for the future: Always also have at least a 2nd completely different 2FA method implemented and start making backups of your data on a regular basis.
