Bitwarden is not LastPass, and does not work the same way. As noted in the comments above yours, the naming of the option may be a little confusing (some suggested improvements to the option labeling were suggested in a previous thread, as well).
What this option does, the password is generated, and (silently) placed in your clipboard. Thus, you can just paste the clipboard contents into the password field.
