"Fill Generated Password" forced, even though I have a password

I’ve seen this question pop up on reddit as well, but not here.

I’m on Macos and using Arc Chromium Browser. I have the Bitwarden Chrome Extension installed.

Whenever I go to a website and want to complete the login form, I’m unable to use my existing password from Apple’s password manager as Bitwarden forces the “Fill Generated Password” dialogue to show up.

How do I solve this problem?

The most straightforward solution is to make a choice: either use Apple’s Keychain as your password manager (and disable Bitwarden), or use Bitwarden as your password manager (and disable Apple’s password autofill). Trying to use both will inevitably lead to conflicts.

A stop-gap measure that may resolve your immediate issue would be to go to Settings > Autofill in the Bitwarden browser extension, and disable the option “Show autofill suggestions on form fields”.
