Error code 6 on new computer - direct login to website

I have a new computer, well actually 2 and the first one was find to log into bitwarden website to grab a password to use. The second now gives me the Code 6 errors. My old computer does this as well now. I can sign in with the plug-in on the old computer but don’t want to use that on this new computer as it doesn’t need all the info.

What causes the code 6 to just appear? I read a lot of options on line about it but they all seem to be around a new device and logging in after another device was recently best I can tell. These are all originating from the same location.

I don’t know exactly why error 6 specifically occurs, but I believe it relates to how Bitwarden is preventing suspicious activities from some clients on the same IP address. It’s unfortunately inconsistent from one client to another.

The usual solutions are to use VPN/don’t use VPN/don’t use TOR/reboot router. See Unusual Internet Traffic | Bitwarden Help Center

The most reliable long-term solution (for me) seems to be to make sure all your clients (excluding the CLI) can connect to BW using IPv6. You can check from the browser at: https://test-ipv6.com/
