I do not want to download the desktop application. I want to create an SSH entry and fill in the fields myself. Why is this not allowed?!

You can also use the browser extension to import a private key that has been copied to the system clipboard:

Still, it surprises me you can’t just modify the fields.
I suspect that freely editable fields would create an unacceptably high risk of entering an invalid key.
If you want to freely modify the fields, you could use a Secure Note (or hidden custom fields) to store the keys.
