Do you need the android app installed to use the browser extension on Android?

I searched but didn’t find an answer so thought I would ask here. Do I need to install the BW App as well as the extension for my browser, Firefox in my case, for BW to work best on a Android Phone, Samsung Note 10+ ?

I use the BW Android (beta version) app and this one works out of the box with Firefox, so no need for an extension.
