Current bug: Desktop app doesn't "start to tray"/minimized (though set as such)

I have had my desktop app configured to start automatically and run minimized when I log into Windows for sometime. The app was recently upgrade to the following:

Version 2025.3.0
SDK ‘main (50f5a17)’
Shell 34.0.0
Renderer 132.0.6834.83
Node 20.18.1
Architecture x64

Now when I log into Windows, the app opens and requests my fingerprint, then stays open and doesn’t run minimized. I have not changed any of my options.

Is there anything I can do to restore the behavior I have become accustomed to; i.e., start automatically and run minimized?

It’s a known bug for now:

Also seen here.

I already select that, and it works before. The issue only appears since last desktop app update

Start to tray icon is not working anymore in 2025.3.0
This is not the first time existing functionality breaks. Don’t they do any regression testing when making changes?

I agree. Since round 2 weeks the window of my bitwarden desktop app also pops up on the monitor, and i have also enabled the option “Start to tray icon”.

The 2nd issue: the app was set to “unlock with windows hello” and “ask for windows hello on startup”, but the app do not automatically open the windows hello fingerprint request. Instead the app shows a link to login with windows hello.

I have never changed the settings in the last months, so i would guess these 2 bugs are new since last app update 2 weeks ago…

Same problem here with the same settings, I noticed that after the desktop app update, is there a way to rollback to a previous version?

I have the same issue. I even did a complete window reinstall after format and issue is still there.

@d3smo @robnicholson @sk8er000 @Ejz I moved our posts into this existing (same) topic, “to keep everything together”.

PS:

@WimV @flazh I also moved your posts into this topic.

@flazh You may want to post separately for your 2nd issue, that doesn’t match to this topic.

Note: I changed the title to make it more broad (it’s not only on Win 11…) and clear what’s the issue (before, it was: “Login behavior of desktop app on Windows 11”).
