Configurable lock screen email visibility

Feature name:

Configurable lock screen email visibility

Feature Description

Feature request: Option to hide email reference from the UI

I want to add a new configuration option to the web, browser, mobile and desktop vaults that allows changing the visibility of the email address on the lock screen. The following options would be supported:

  • Shown: represents the current behavior and would be the default.
    Shown example
  • Masked: represents masking all but the first character of the username and the different parts of the domain. Example: [email protected]j*******@p*******.e******.c**
    Masked example
  • Hidden: represents hiding the email address completely.
    Hidden example

The configuration option would look like this:

Clients / Repos Affected:

  • Web
  • Browser
  • Mobile
  • Desktop
  • jslib

Timeline to completion (estimate):

ETA: 1 week.

All changes shown in the example images were hardcoded to explain the proposed feature, I plan to start on the actual implementation after getting feedback on the proposal.

I think this would be helpful. I do wonder if it makes sense to have this as an option at the account level that drives all client behavior?

@eliykat @cscharf for visibility.

I have a slight preference towards client-level configuration. The proposed feature is similar in category to the client-level “Disable Website Icons” feature, so it would be consistent to have email visibility on client-level as well.
