No. The issue was reported on Github by a user (@isometric ), and has been assigned a tracking number. Next steps would be for Bitwarden staff to reproduce the issue and acknowledge that it is considered to be a bug. Subsequently, we would have to wait for Bitwarden to allocate development resources towards fixing the issue, which may be a quick or slow process depending on their current priorities and work load. Only then would work begin on finding the cause of the issue and developing a fix.
So I noticed we have a new 2025.12.1 - but still no love for the search box?
Still is not setting cursor here. Hoping this one is still being looked at.

I had this in Windows 11 Edge as well as Fedora Firefox.
But Bitwarden refreshed when I entered my password and thus I almost always failed the first time since I got the later half of my password actually entered.
That part sounds more like this current bug:

### Steps To Reproduce
1. Install and configure the Bitwarden extension on Fire… fox.
2. Unlock Bitwarden by clicking the extension icon.
### Expected Result
The password prompt should appear quickly, and the password field should not clear itself while you are typing the password.
### Actual Result
The password prompt does not appear for ~2 seconds, and any text entered in the password field will be cleared in the first ~3 seconds after the prompt appears. Waiting ~3 seconds before entering text will avoid text erasure.

I observe exactly this behavior in Edge on Windows 11 as well, including the behavior of the tab key.
I think I have finally narrowed down exactly what is causing this.
Have been watching my keystrokes here like a hawk for several days now - IF you are already on a site (In your browser) that contains (uses) a Bitwarden credential combo to login - EVEN IF you never actually had Bitwarden RELOG you in - during a specific window of time on that site - AND then click the addon - the cursor freaks out and does not focus.
Conversely - open a new tab - box works perfectly.
Over here - I have at least a dozen or more sites I use all day, every day and every one of them is “auto-logged” in - as in - I never use Bitwarden whatsoever to get back into them - like ever.
But I can confirm this focus loss - ONLY occurs in this scenario. And then - after some unknown period of time elapses OR I get annoyed after that first “focus loss” and reopen the addon 18 times in a row - the cursor IS placed correctly.
Whatever the hell is going on here - has something to do with Bitwarden doing some sort of oddball check into a site that I am already on - realizes that I am already good - and then decides that placing the cursor (ONLY the first time) in the field is somehow not needed.
That is the best way I can describe this - as bizarre as it sounds.

Is it just me - or do we have a new updated extension now - that appears to solve this issue?
v2026.1.1

Sonicmojo:
v2026.1.1
Where did you get that one? – The latest official extension is 2026.1.0.
My bad. Was looking at the “server” version. Mine is in fact v2026.1.0
Working great BTW. Can we have the DEVS leave the cursor placement alone now

It seems, this other issue that was reported in Dec 2025 also is still open (though there seems to be a PR in the works that could fix it):

browser
### Steps To Reproduce
1. Unlock the browser extension.
2. Set the browser exte… nsion timeout interval to “On browser restart”.
3. Return to the Vault view, and ensure that the Search field has focus.
4. Close the browser extension window.
5. Wait for at least 2 hours without closing the browser or opening the browser extension.
6. Open the browser extension window using the keyboard shortcut Cmd/Ctrl+Shift+Y.
7. Do not type or click anything until after Step 8 has been completed.
8. Wait for at least 5 seconds while observing the browser extension window.
### Expected Result
When the browser extension window opens the cursor should be in the search box.
### Actual Result
The browser extension window opens, the cursor is briefly in the search box for a moment. Then the browser extension window has a brief pause and appears to be 'refreshed' and the cursor disappears from the search box and the search box no longer has focus.

PS:
Yeah, I think that would mean it would remain “broken”.
Well - all I can say right now is - whatever was done to version 2026.1.0 is working for me.
The cursor (and search box) has been rock solid. I can always appreciate more work on this “cursor” issue - but I am just not seeing it now?
S
Just tested this here - and yes - it remains faulty. Not something I use very often but I can see now how this would be very annoying.
