Bitwarden.sh Install not working: StackExchange.Redis.RedisConnectionException: No connection is active/available to service this operation

Just downloaded the bitwarden.sh install file straight from github and ran it to the following error:

/opt/bitwarden/bwdata/scripts/run.sh: line 1: syntax error near unexpected token (' /opt/bitwarden/bwdata/scripts/run.sh: line 1: StackExchange.Redis.RedisConnectionException: No connection is active/available to service this opertion: GET self-host/run.sh; It was not possible to connect to the redis server(s). ConnectTimeout, mc: 1/1/0, mgr: 10 of 10 available, clientName: ppfunctions-9dcc4d77c-l2ksx, IOCP: (Busy=0,Free=1000,Min=24,Max=1000), WORKER: (Busy=1,Free=32766,Min=24,Max=32767), v: 2.1.58.34321’

Where do i go from here? This is my first time trying to use bitwarden, and I have not touched the bash script at all.

hi @Rubix3D - welcome to the BItwarden community!

Perhaps other users will have had some familiarity with this error, but I haven’t encountered that one before. It looks like it could be related to a network issue. I would try again to see if the network issue was just temporary.

Failing that, if you are running a VPN, that could be the culprit as many VPN IPs get blacklisted from other users trying to do sketchy stuff. Or if you can try a different network altogether, you could see if that works too.

Otherwise, you might try contacting Bitwarden directly at Get in Touch | Bitwarden. Cheers.

Hey @dh024 Thanks!

I tried following the github install instructions again on a VM and then another PC on a different network with the same results.

I am also not running a VPN :upside_down_face:

I’ll send them a message and see what they have to say

Support got back to me and asked to redownload the script to try again and it works with no errors now.

Guess it was something on their end
