Just to add to the discussion.
Today I tried configuring the Bitwarden Chrome extension’s privacy settings but when I returned to the Chrome settings page about payment methods, Bitwarden is still overriding Google/Chrome, so my solution did not work. 
Bitwarden definitely didn’t behave this way a few years back and this is a major UX flaw.
