I have a feeling I know the answer to this as I’ve not found one in a fair bit of time spent researching, but I figured I’d try anyway.
I work at a small MSP and a couple of our clients are purchasing Bitwarden Enterprise through us via the MSP program. These clients have users who primarily use either Chrome or Edge and many of them are likely using the built-in browser password manager. If sent instructions on how to export their passwords and import them into BW, most of them are simply not going to do it.
What I’d love to be able to do is find a way to script the export of their Chromium passwords to a CSV, import them into their Bitwarden vaults, then disable the Chromium vault functionality. We could then push this out either via our RMM tool or Intune.
I’ve seen some scripts referenced that can export and decrypt Chrome passwords, but they are over a decade old and apparently won’t work with versions newer than 79.
Is what I’m asking possible or will we just have to rely on user handholding?
