šŸ”œ Auto-type/Autofill for logging into other desktop apps (Windows, MacOS, Linux)

Seems you have experience dealing with this and you know how to implement it without difficulties!

I’m pretty sure bitwarden team would really love your contribution!
Thanks!

Let’s just say I managed to bypass the TestFlight system compatibility check to install Bitwarden iOS beta in macOS. I got Native Autofill to work in macOS with Apple Silicon. And it works with system built-in Passkey selection too:

Sorry, I am new here so I cannot upload image in the forum. you can checkout in Imgur: Bitwarden iOS native version on macOS - Album on Imgur

There are few bugs with the macOS integration, such as the problem that you cannot type the master password when activating the system Autofill for Bitwarden in the system setting, since developers did not officially support macOS. I managed to work around with copy and paste so I can test Autofill.

In my opinion, if the compatibility with Intel Mac is considered, it would be great to have both the traditional desktop version and the iOS version available simultaneously, from which Apple Silicon Mac users can benefit.
And if Apple officially abandons support for Intel Mac, then maybe we can deprecate the current macOS desktop version.

It is this feature missing that makes the mac experience clunky. Is there any update?

Also waiting for this to be implemented

this feature would be really nice to have, i have it on my phone and its awesome but some times I’m on my mac and have to pull up bitwarden when i rather it realize that it needs to fill out a field and i just press what i want and move forward, i keep my hopes out for this!

This feature would be an absolute game changer just like it was when I implemented its use in iOS and iPadOS, seems slightly ridiculous that it’s not available on macOS yet. Hopefully it’s integrated soon.

Please - just give us an update and if its on the roadmap.
A feature IĀ“m definetley missing…

Welcome, @tomi_ebc to the community!

Bitwarden publishes their ā€œpublic facingā€ roadmap via an ever-fresh link at the top of this and every community page.

This request has my upvote. Native autofill integration would be great to bring Bitwarden’s behavior in line with what a new user might expect. This would ease user training for Bitwarden organization consumers too.

Crazy this hasn’t been implemented yet

+1 This is a must have feature now especially with Mac having a native Passwords app with autofill functionality

Adding my vote here in the comments since it’s not letting me vote at the top, just says ā€œlimitā€ even though I have not voted for anything else. Thanks.

+1 to this. It’s much needed.

Welcome, @ahso to the community!

Voting in comments does not add to the total. Spend a bit of time reading and you will get a notice that you have become a ā€œbasic userā€ (as opposed to ā€œnew userā€. At that point, you will be able to vote.

To make your vote count, scroll to the very top of the topic and click the blue ā€œvoteā€ button.

It’s still on the new January 2025 roadmap:

I hope they implement this soon! It’s very tempting to just use the integrated passwords vault and I’d like to keep using Bitwarden (with the convenience of this integration)

I’m really looking forward to having macOS native autofill implemented soon. I’ve been using 1Password mainly, but if Bitwarden brings this in, I’ll be making the switch in a heartbeat. It’s about time to enjoy that seamless experience. Fingers crossed that it gets rolled out soon!

I’m hoping on this implementation soon.
