Auto-Fill of Identities and Cards in Mobile Apps

When I look at the roadmap, I just can’t understand how this feature isn’t there, and some of the much less important stuff is. This is such a basic function of a password manager

Is there any update on this or an official response from Bitwarden?

I’m a bit surprised and disappointed that the original feature requests is like 5 years old now.

Is this even on a roadmap yet?

This basic feature is needed ASAP please. Can Bitwarden please provide a status update?

It’s a major miss that bitwarden does not yet allow autofill for credit cards on mobile devices. LastPass and others have had it for years.

Please add this feature. It’s the only thing stopping me from switching entirely to bitwarden. Thanks

That’s really missing, finding myself a lot in copy pasting and switching the apps.

Please increase the importance of this feature. As a new BW user it is one of the first things I noticed. I use Firefox on Android and while it has this autofill functionality built-in, I am not using it because I trust BW more. Please prioritize this.
@tgreer , thank you for your last update. Any new updates?

What’s the update on this? It’s incredibly frustrating that after years a seemingly fundamental part of what password managers offer in functionality is unavailable.

Welcome to the community @eGolono! Thank you for your question, part of this involves what the autofill frameworks make available. the team continues to look at options to expand autofill.

I’m a new user to Bitwarden and this lack of functionality is very disappointing. I’m considering switching to a competitor product as this is enough of an issue to make the product disappointing. LastPass have had this function for years.

Hello Bitwarden Community and Team,

I hope this message finds you well. As a dedicated user of Bitwarden on Android, I have greatly appreciated the security and convenience the app provides. However, I’ve encountered an area where our experience could be further enhanced - the filling functionality for identities and cards.

Currently, accessing and using identities and cards within the Android app can be somewhat cumbersome. For instance, when attempting to use Android’s Quick Tiles to open the identities page, the process feels convoluted, and at times, the app reports that no fillable fields are found. This situation leads to a less-than-ideal user experience, especially when compared to the seamless filling options available for passwords.

Therefore, I propose the introduction of a manual (and possibly future automatic) fill feature for identities and cards on the Android platform. A manual fill option could significantly simplify the process, making it more user-friendly and efficient. While I understand the complexities involved in automating this process, starting with manual fill could serve as a valuable enhancement, paving the way for more advanced features in the future.

Additionally, I would like to mention my experience with Roboform, a platform I have previously used, which excels particularly in this aspect. Roboform’s handling of identities and cards offers a seamless and user-friendly experience, where accessing and utilizing these details is straightforward and efficient. This experience underscores the potential benefits and enhancements that such functionality can bring to Bitwarden.

While I understand that integrating similar features into Bitwarden involves various challenges and considerations, I firmly believe that making the access and copying of fields for identities and cards more convenient would be a significant step forward. Even if the introduction of manual or automatic fill options for identities and cards might not be feasible in the short term, simplifying the current process to open and copy these fields could markedly improve user experience. This change would not only enhance Bitwarden’s functionality but also align it more closely with the standards set by other leading platforms in the industry.

The goal of my proposal is not only to match the convenience found in other applications but to encourage continuous improvement in Bitwarden’s user experience. By taking inspiration from successful implementations like Roboform’s, Bitwarden can explore opportunities to further streamline its operations, making the app even more user-friendly and accessible.

Thank you for considering this proposal. I believe that by working together, we can make Bitwarden even better for all users. I am excited about the potential for these enhancements to Bitwarden and look forward to seeing how our favorite password management tool can evolve to meet and exceed user expectations.

Feature requests asking for mobile auto-fill of card data and identity data have been merged, and the topic title updated to reflect the broader scope (was: “Make credit cards available for Mobile autofill”).

A strong +1 for this feature. All the toggling / c&p every time is tiresome :slightly_frowning_face:
Is there any idea of a timescale?
Thanks

In the last “vault hours” (last Friday) there was a peek preview into auto-fill improvements… It looks like for the (new) browser extensions… and based on the upcoming browser extension UI-redesign, there shall come a redesign of the new native mobile apps as well… I would speculate, that auto-fill might get an overhaul on mobile then as well?! (but I guess we are not speaking of the next few weeks now…) (see here with timestamp on the right spot: https://youtu.be/pe2k1-WP2tc?si=2sZDEdGcHGtPM8Md&t=1808)
