I haven’t seen any other discussion on this issue so far, or maybe I didn’t know the right phrases to search.
In many cases for different apps/websites, I use bitwarden to only store the password. I don’t necessarily fill in the email address or username field every single time. So in most cases either the app/site remembers my email/username, or I manually type it in.
Previously, if I was on an app or website logging in, and the only piece of information in bitwarden for said app/site was the password, using the autofill option would simply fill the password in to any field labelled password. Leaving the email or username I had manually entered alone.
Now, if I do the same thing, not only does the password get filled in, but it clears the username/email field, deleting what I had already typed in there. I assume because there is no username/email in bitwarden for the site.
It will clear all fields that aren’t specifically saved in bitwarden. For example, I was creating a new account on a site. It asked for email, username, phone number, address, then finally password. My normal process is to generate a password on bitwarden, then use the autofill feature to fill in said password to the field. Well in this case it cleared everything, the email, username, address, phone number, etc. I had to start from scratch on my sign up.
I don’t know if I’m the only person who stores passwords and doesn’t always attach the email or username. The fact that bitwarden lets you do that was the main selling point for me to use this over lastpass. This is a major annoyance for me so far, and I don’t see any options in the app to adjust the autofill behavior to only alter fields that I have data for.
Has anyone else run into this and are there any fixes?
This is new behavior I’ve just noticed with the most recent UI update.
