Biometrics in Firefox and Librewolf extension 2025.2.0 opens flashing on taskbar after manual request.

Windows 11 and Windows 10 Desktop version 2025.2.0

Works in Chrome/Brave/Edge (2025.2.1)

Hi @khuntim if you haven’t already, please share additional information with the support team at: Help Center | Bitwarden so that we can look into this for you.

First thing in the morning.

On Firefox extension it is missing “ask for biometrics on launch”

removed and reinstalled several times, and the desktop app.

I run both Windows 10 and Linux Mint 22.1. The Firefox extension works as expected in Windows 10. But in Linux Mint it does not have the Vault, Generator, Send, or Settings when you click the extension icon in Firefox. When you add new items there is no Save button either. Also the Password Generator will not update when you make changes to the criteria of the password. It will just generate whatever the previously good criteria was. Attached will be screenshot I took of the issue. It does happen to work if you put it in a popout window. I am currently on Bitwarden Version: 2025.2.0.

Is your screen zoom (in the browser) set to something other than 100%? If so, try setting it to 100% and see if that helps.

@Kraig Welcome to the forum!

This is a known bug, which you can track in GitHub Issue #8769 and Issue #12872, and which has also been discussed in the Community forum in another thread.

I have solved the issue. It was the Firefox version that came preinstalled with Linux Mint. They have their own version of Firefox. I removed it and downloaded the files directly to my computer. Add all my extensions with Firefox sync and it works as expected now. The Icons are at the bottom and are a little cut off but clickable. Zooming out has no effect. I was on 100% zoom to begin with. The password generator works now as expected. Also can save new logins as button is at the bottom of the screen. Why the difference I do not know but something made the difference between the 2 versions of Firefox.

on firefox "ask for biometrics on launch” is missing for me too. is this a known bug?

Please, add the option to ask for biometrics on launch on Firefox version. I’ve switched from Chrome to Floorp (Firefox fork) because of the Manifest V3 and to reduce data collection, but it’s making me mad because I got too used to auto biometrics popup.

The old extension used to have plus-addressing based on the domain name.

So when creating a login for example(dot)com I could automatically generate myemail+example(dot)com@myprovider(dot)com “username”. This appears to suddenly be gone. I can only have a random string there.

(Personally, I would prefer to have an option to only take the effective second level domain so myemail+example@myprovider(dot)com, but I at least want the old behaviour back!)

Any updates on when compact mode will be improved? The header font and bottom button bar feel way too big, especially on my 1440p monitor.

It would be awesome if the header and footer were smaller so the extension window could be more useful like the pre-UI makeover. Modern design doesn’t have to mean zooming in 400%. Higher information density just makes UI easier to use for power users.

@khuntim @rengle @ViniRust According to this post by someone from “Bitwarden”, the “Ask for biometrics on launch” option…

… “missing” on Firefox seems to be the “expected new behaviour” for now.

A post was split to a new topic: Edge extension stopped working

Interesting, broken it is!

I’m not sure if it’s been mentioned yet but the password generation options can no longer can be modified during login creation, well they can be but they take no effect, e.g. toggling special characters. - Firefox extension.

2025.3.2 seems even slower, still no ask for biometrics. I disabled show animations -why would we want animations?

removed and reinstalled just to make sure
