My main issue with the new extension is how it integrations with Chrome. Chrome password, address, and credit card autofill are all now “controlled by Bitwarden.” If I go to the Bitwarden settings and select “Make Bitwarden your default password manager,” it disables all of these autofills. I only want to disable the Google password manager because I still use Chrome for autofilling my addresses are credit cards.
For now I’ve disabled the setting in Bitwarden, but that sucks because that forces Chrome’s password manager to remain enabled.
I have that same issue, and would love to see a solution. I use Chrome to autofill a lot of info (not credit cards, though). But I only get that by (as you say) disabling the BW setting. And that means Chrome asks me to save the password Every. Single. Time I’m at a new site.
I figure over time, I will have replied “NO” to Chrome enough to stop it.
The first and last time I posted on this forum was 24th December 2024 when the extension updated in firefox for me. I wasn’t happy with the changes then and - despite the improvements that have happened since then - still am not happy with them. With more than a month of use I think I have given it a fair shot. The whole UI still looks like somebody took an extremely useful and usable utility and turned it into a toy. A full revert still seems like the best thing that could be done.
I also turned off android auto-updates for bitwarden so at least I’ll be able to retain decent UX there. Of course I don’t want to stay off the updates forever because they might contain security fixes at some point. So is there any way to preview the new UI on android without committing to it? Or is there a thread like Usability issues (UX) in redesigned UI (2024.12.0) for android so I might at least be able to see some screenshots with the new UI? I could not find one through the search.
Can we please bring back the ability to access permenantly deleted files through the chrome extension instead of having to go to vault.bitwarden.com. Thanks.
it would be great if there was an option to leave the web extension unlocked as long as the desktop app is instead of typing a pin code each time i open my browser thx for the great free app
I think it has good intentions. But it seems supoptimal to me. Having all Ids and cards always visible would leave other important entries always at the bottom and requiring scrolling. It would be much better if I could filter with one click to see only cards etc.
On the other hand, why not use tabs as a proven concept?
Hey @Fenyem even if the ‘always show’ setting isn’t enabled, cards and identities that can be autofilled will still dynamically appear as suggestions. Currently there is just a bug with this behaviour creating inconsistent results, which will be resolved shortly, thanks for your patience!
Thanks and good to know. But I don’t think Bitwarden can recognise which ID or card should be shown as an automatic suggestion. If all are shown, the list is bloated. For me it would be more useful to jump to a quick view of just my cards or ids and I can choose the one I need. This is the concept of tabs or one-click quick filters.
I have had to regress to Firefox ESR 128.7 and install the GitHub release of the extension so I can side-load it without a Mozilla signature. It works just fine. Maybe a tiny bit slower than the chrome extension. Most of the problems seem resolved and I’m fine with the new UI. You say Mozilla take two weeks to update the AMO but so far its two months! As of now I have no self update for the extension which can’t be good. What are Mozilla up to with such a widely used extension? I got my ESR directly from the FF apt repo but there is a Ubuntu PPA for it (I’m using Mint) or a snap which avoids profile conflicts if you want to keep a release version of FF. I have no idea where flatpak stores the extensions. No opinions about FPs or snaps please. All for one extension! I have to go an do the same on Win as well.
No replies about the merits or otherwise of FPs or Snaps please. We’ve heard them all.
